Stroll along downtown Granby’s charming Agate Avenue—our Main Street—where you’ll find fantastic restaurants offering a variety of cuisines and plenty of souvenir and outdoor supply shops.
Granby’s downtown is also notable for the bright and colorful murals that appear on many buildings along Main Street. Take some time to appreciate the vivid artwork that depicts people, animals, landscapes, and abstract designs through a creative lens. These murals were completed in June 2019 for a summer mural festival and have brightened up downtown Granby ever since. Following the festival, local community members banded together and formed the Granby Public Arts Committee, which now guides the development of all the town’s public art projects.
If you love performing arts and theater, the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre in nearby Grand Lake is a fantastic place to enjoy the magic of Broadway right in the heart of the Rockies! Every summer, the theater puts on amazing musical productions that the whole family will love, and it’s just a short drive from Granby.
There are several fascinating museums around Granby where you can discover the area’s local history and lore. The Moffat Road Railroad Museum in Granby houses a 100-ton steam crane from 1913, a passenger car from 1905, and a bright red caboose dating from the early 1920s. The museum is also home to an impressive working display of the Moffat Road Railroad, which was in use from 1905 up through the 1960s.
The Emily Warner Field Aviation Museum celebrates the history of aviation in Grand County and is another incredible place to visit in Granby. The museum space is in a former terminal at the Granby/Grand County Airport where you can learn about the history of this community airport while viewing artifacts such as original route information and an historic Captain's jacket.
Step back in time with a visit to the Pioneer Village Museum. Located in Hot Sulphur Springs, a 10-minute drive from Granby, the museum is dedicated to the history of Grand County’s earliest inhabitants. You can view artifacts dating back thousands of years, as well as items chronicling the beginning of skiing in the area—all housed in a schoolhouse from 1924 with a historic courthouse, jail, and blacksmith shop on-site too.
