You would join a cardiovascular service line built around one tenured cardiothoracic surgeon, a surgical APP team, and a cardiology group that is actively adding physicians. The staff on the cardiac side has unusual longevity for a community program: the cath lab manager has been at Norman Regional for 23 years and several cardiovascular team members have passed the 20-year mark.

Bruce Cannon, MD is the full-time cardiothoracic surgeon and the physician you would partner with. He is board certified in thoracic and cardiac surgery, trained at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine with a dual residency in general and cardiothoracic surgery at OU Health Sciences Center, and completed a fellowship in myocardial protection research at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has more than 30 years of experience and currently performs all CABG, valve, thoracotomy, and wedge procedures for the system. He grew up in the Moore-Norman area and lives in Norman.
A PRN cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon currently provides call coverage and cath lab backup and handles the system's vascular cases, including carotids, fem-pops, and AAAs. He is preparing to retire, and his patient panel transfers to the incoming surgeon.
The APPs below are hospital employed and work exclusively with the cardiothoracic surgeons. Two hold RNFA credentials and first-assist in the OR, including vein harvesting. One is dedicated to the ICU. The team rounds on inpatients and sees follow-up visits in clinic.

Cardiology is your primary referral source. The group practices at Heart Plaza and at Norman Regional Moore and is recruiting to add three interventional cardiologists and two non-invasive cardiologists.
Robin Singh, MD, fellowship trained at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He leads the EP lab that opened in 2025 and handles pacemakers, ICDs, and ablations, which keeps device work off the surgeon's schedule.
Tom S. Connally, MD, FACS, medical director of the Norman Regional endocrine surgery program and the only Oklahoma surgeon who is a member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons. The cardiothoracic surgeons provide operative backup on his complex thyroid and parathyroid cases when a tumor involves the mediastinum.
Leadership describes the cardiovascular team as long tenured and responsive. Cardiovascular anesthesia is provided by a contract group of MD anesthesiologists with a long history at Norman Regional, and perfusion is in-house. There are no turf conflicts between cardiothoracic surgery and other specialties; the surgeons have full scope to perform the procedures they are trained for.
