Ochsner Medical Center – New Orleans, located at 1514 Jefferson Highway, achieved the American Nursing Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition® for Excellence in Nursing Services in 2003 and was re-designated in 2008, 2019 and 2024. We are among less than 1% of hospitals in the nation to have achieved Magnet designation four times.

One of the most comprehensive pediatric programs between Houston and Atlanta, Ochsner Children’s Hospital offers a full range of pediatric care from primary to quaternary care, with services offered in all subspecialties, including Congenital Cardiac Surgery, Advanced GI and Hepatology, Advanced Orthopedic Surgery, Hematology-Oncology, Cleft Palate/Cranio-Facial Surgery, as well as heart, liver and bone marrow transplant. The hospital’s comprehensive pediatrics program, which includes primary care pediatricians and pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists, represents more than 230 physicians. Opened in 1942, Ochsner Children’s flagship facility is located in New Orleans and includes 28 primary care locations (with more coming) and 30 subspecialty locations across Louisiana and southern Mississippi.

Ochsner Children’s is a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to complex conditions. Ochsner Children’s Hospital is the top congenital heart program in the state (both in volume and outcomes) and has the largest and most comprehensive pediatric liver transplant program in the Gulf South.

Ochsner also maintains 28 primary care locations across southern Louisiana and 30 subspecialty locations (Including the Shaquille O’Neal Pediatric Super Clinic in Baton Rouge); and the Boh Center for Child Development, a dedicated multidisciplinary developmental pediatrics center.

In addition to patient care, Ochsner Children’s Hospital has an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and is responsible for teaching pediatric residents from the Tulane-Ochsner Pediatric Residency program as well as medical students from both Tulane and the University of Queensland. Ochsner Health and Xavier University of Louisiana recently announced an agreement to establish a joint College of Medicine.
