As a Pediatric Surgeon at Ochsner Children's Hospital, you'll have the opportunity to be part of a thriving and collaborative surgical team dedicated to providing exceptional care to our youngest patients. Your typical week will consist of spending two half-days in the outpatient clinic, where you'll work alongside residents in evaluating and treating pediatric surgical cases. The remainder of your time will be focused on what you do best – performing life-changing procedures in the operating room.
One of the most exciting aspects of this role is the potential for growth. While the current surgical volume allows for a reasonable work-life balance, there is significant opportunity to expand our reach and services. Last year alone, our Patient Flow Center referred an impressive 459 patients, each spending an average of 6 days in the hospital. As we continue to grow our physical footprint, the possibilities for increasing surgical volume are vast.
You'll have the chance to play a key role in developing new programs and services, such as Fetal Treatment, Bariatric Surgery, Oncology, Trauma, and Colorectal Surgery. Additionally, there are ample opportunities for outreach and providing outpatient elective surgery services in the northern and eastern communities we serve.
As a member of our team, you'll be part of a truly collaborative environment. Our senior partners are known for their willingness to share interesting cases and provide mentorship to junior colleagues, fostering an atmosphere of continuous learning and growth. You'll also have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced surgeons, including Dr. Adolph, who will be transitioning to a primarily call coverage role, and Dr. Steiner, who plans to gradually reduce his workload as you become fully integrated into the team.
Beyond the clinical setting, Ochsner Children's Hospital offers a robust academic environment. You'll have the chance to engage in teaching activities with our general surgery and pediatric residency programs, as well as numerous subspecialty fellowships. While publishing is not a requirement, there are opportunities for scholarly work and research collaborations with esteemed institutions like Xavier University, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the University of Queensland.
As a Pediatric Surgeon at Ochsner Children's Hospital, you'll be part of a dynamic and supportive team that values excellence, innovation, and a commitment to providing the highest quality care to our young patients. With competitive compensation and benefits, this is an opportunity to truly make a difference in the lives of children and their families while advancing your career in a renowned healthcare system.
