The incoming OB/GYN joins a women's health program that has operated successfully for decades. The team includes two dedicated gynecologic colleagues, a 10-provider family practice OB group, and a nursing staff with deep experience in labor and delivery. Physicians across the program describe the culture as collaborative, team-oriented, and low on politics. Long tenure is the norm; many providers have been with Pella Regional for a decade or more.
Trupti Mehta, MD, FACOG Dr. Mehta is a board-certified gynecologist with more than 30 years of experience. She practiced for most of her career in Dubuque, Iowa before joining Pella Regional. Her clinical focus includes minimally invasive and robotic gynecologic surgery, infertility evaluation and treatment, pelvic surgery, menstrual disorders, menopause, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and urinary incontinence. She completed a research fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Mehta sees patients in Pella, Prairie City, and Ottumwa.
Mark Coleman, MD Dr. Coleman is a long-tenured gynecologist at Pella Regional with extensive surgical experience. He has served as a key resource for the FPOB team for complex obstetric situations and GYN procedures. He is an experienced robotic surgery user and works closely with a dedicated surgical assistant for his OR cases.
The FPOB group currently includes 10 providers who collectively deliver more than 620 babies annually. The team has practiced together for years and operates with a strong sense of shared responsibility. Most FPOB providers prefer to be present for their own patients' deliveries when available, and they maintain close relationships with their obstetric patients throughout pregnancy and postpartum care.
Two members of the FPOB team serve on physician leadership: one represents the clinics broadly and the other serves as OB Chair.
FPOB providers include:
The OB unit is staffed by experienced labor and delivery nurses 24 hours a day. The team includes dedicated triage nurses who manage initial patient contact and communications with on-call providers. A clinical pharmacist supports the broader system and providers have access to pharmacy resources including a cost-plus model for routine prescriptions. Scheduling coordinators work directly with providers to manage clinic flow and adjust for call obligations.
Physicians across the program consistently describe the working environment as respectful, collaborative, and focused on patient care rather than internal competition. The FPOB team has strong delivery volume experience and a history of working well with the existing GYN colleagues. The group values mutual respect and is looking for an OB/GYN who shares that approach. Providers have meaningful autonomy in how they manage their schedules, and administration does not micromanage clinical decisions.
The hospital operates with a faith-based, non-denominational Christian mission, and that culture is reflected across the medical staff. Physicians who value that environment tend to find it a strong fit.
