Position Overview

Understanding the Role

Orthopedic Spine Surgeon Opportunity in El Paso

As an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon with this well-established El Paso group, you will step into a practice where demand already exceeds current capacity. Patients across El Paso, southern New Mexico, and even northern Mexico call daily seeking spine care, making this role essential to meeting the needs of a rapidly growing community. You won’t be asked to build a practice from scratch—there is a steady flow of referrals and an urgent backlog of patients waiting for specialized spine care.

You will join a group known as the pillar of orthopedic surgery in El Paso, where your work will be immediately impactful. The existing spine surgeon in the practice focuses on complex trauma and high-acuity “train wreck” cases, leaving a wide gap for a colleague who enjoys managing the full spectrum of spine conditions. From initial evaluation and conservative management to elective procedures and post-operative care, you will become the comprehensive spine resource that the community currently lacks.

This is a role designed for a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon who values both autonomy and collaboration. Fellowship training is strongly preferred, as it ensures credibility with both referring physicians and patients, and will allow you to quickly integrate into the referral network. Beyond technical skills, the group seeks a physician who is hungry to build strong relationships, committed to call participation as a way of embedding in the community, and eager to take ownership of a thriving subspecialty service line.

  • High Community Demand – You will inherit significant unmet need for spine care, with thousands of monthly calls coming into the health system, many related to back pain and spine pathology.
  • Established Group Reputation – The practice is recognized across El Paso and southern New Mexico as the leading orthopedic provider, ensuring a steady flow of internal and external referrals.
  • Complementary Role – Current spine surgeon focuses on major trauma and complex reconstructions; your practice will emphasize a broader spectrum including degenerative disease, spinal stenosis, and elective spine cases.
  • Fellowship-Trained Preference – Candidates with orthopedic spine fellowship training will be prioritized to ensure subspecialty credibility.
  • Practice Development – While volume will be available from day one, call participation and community engagement are vital to quickly establish yourself as a trusted local surgeon.
