SCC also services 30+ SNF’s and not one is located more than 15 minutes away. Each physician is assigned a certain number of SNF’s, based on their interest level. The SNF’s are fully staffed and our physicians are required to visit their respective SNF’s at least once per month. All schedules are made a month in advance and are ideally fixed schedules, meaning that you won’t experience changes in your schedule on a month-to-month basis.
SCC is fully staffed with 8 full-time employees, including: front desk personnel, billers, coders and nurses. SCC and White Memorial are compatible when it comes to electronic medical records, as they both utilize Cerner. SCC is currently seeing about 60% managed care and 40% fee-for-service.
The clinic has four exam rooms. As mentioned before, outpatient volumes have nearly doubled and you would be busy on day one.
We are looking for someone who is energy-motivated, and who is comfortable with providing patient care to a primarily indigenous Hispanic population. Spanish-speaking and Board Certification in Internal Medicine is preferred, however, we will entertain candidates who are Board Eligible (determined on a case-by-case basis).
We are in need of an additional internist or family physician. The position is extremely flexible. Any combination is welcome, as long as you are doing some inpatient rounding at the hospital or at the SNFs; the number of SNF’s that you incorporate into your practice will be based on your level of interest. For a family physicians, their focus might be shifted a bit more towards clinic and SNFs.
You will take on patients from the departing physician, in addition to any new patients or overflow of patients that are waiting to be seen by a provider at SCC. When it comes to the clinic setting, you will be averaging 18-20 patients in a full day. On the inpatient side of things, you would be rounding on an average 8-10 patients per day (mostly young adults and volumes will vary based on the number of admissions from the previous day/night) at White Memorial. The SNF volumes will also vary based on your interest level and on the number of patients at the facilities assigned to you on any given day.
All inpatient loads are dispersed evenly as patients are admitted. For example, all patients that are admitted on a Monday night will become Dr. Ghaly’s responsibility; all patients that are admitted on a Tuesday night will become Dr. Quijas’ responsibility, etc.
It is also worth mentioning that Dr. Ghaly would like to cut back on his clinical volumes in order to focus more time on his administrative responsibilities. With that being said, at some point after your arrival, you may also encounter some of his patients in addition to your own.
You will be required to participate in a telephone call rotation during the weekdays. You will be on telephone call one day per week from 5:00pm-8:30am; consists of phone consults in the ED. You will never be required to step foot in the hospital when you are on telephone call, as we have dedicated intensivists and residents managing the ICU and inpatient at night. You will not be required to do any procedures.
You will also be required to round and take call one weekend per month. Weekend call starts on Friday at 4:30pm and ends on Monday at 8:30am. During the weekend coverage, once you have completed your rounds for the day, you are done; standing by for any calls that require your presence later in the day.
