Understanding the Role

A Thriving Practice Opportunity in Louisiana's Growing Northshore Region

Step into an established, high-volume urology practice where you'll join a collaborative team of three experienced physicians and three advanced practice providers in one of Louisiana's most desirable suburban communities. This isn't a startup practice struggling to build patient volume – you'll walk into a thriving operation with immediate access to a robust patient panel and state-of-the-art technology, including Da Vinci robotics, UroNav fusion biopsy platform, and the newly acquired Aquablation system that's revolutionizing prostate care.

Your practice will serve the growing population of Slidell and the broader Northshore region, extending into southern Mississippi where urology services are limited. With 77+ new oncology referrals monthly and patients traveling up to 100 miles for specialized care, you'll be filling a vital healthcare need in a community that values and supports its medical providers. The recent departure of a highly productive physician (generating 9,500+ wRVUs annually) has created an immediate opportunity for the right candidate to step into an established practice with significant volume ready to be absorbed.

This backfill position offers the ideal balance of clinical variety and procedural work, with approximately 2.5-3 days per week in clinic and 2 days dedicated to procedures. Unlike many practices where call coverage becomes overwhelming, you'll participate in a manageable 5-7 days monthly rotation shared among five total physicians, with most call handled from home and rare emergent situations requiring you to come in.

  • Board certification in Urology required, with subspecialty interest in female urology/incontinence highly desired
  • Established practice with immediate patient volume and referral relationships with 45+ primary care providers
  • Balanced schedule allowing for both clinical excellence and personal time
  • Future leadership opportunities available as you establish yourself within the organization and community
  • Supported by experienced APPs who handle initial screenings and follow-ups, optimizing your time for complex cases and procedures

The Slidell Memorial Hospital system operates two campuses just 3-4 miles apart, with most outpatient procedures performed at the East Campus directly across from your clinic. This geographic convenience, combined with the collaborative hospital medicine team that manages initial assessments and consults appropriately, creates an efficient workflow that maximizes your clinical impact while respecting your time.

As part of the Ochsner Health network, you'll benefit from the resources and reputation of Louisiana's largest healthcare system while maintaining the community feel and personal relationships that make practicing in Slidell so rewarding. This position represents more than just a job change – it's an opportunity to become an integral part of a thriving medical community in one of the Gulf South's most livable areas.
