At South Peninsula Hospital, you’ll find a role designed for the physician who values both clinical variety and meaningful work-life balance. This full-time, hospital-employed position blends outpatient family medicine with pediatric inpatient coverage, serving a close-knit community on Alaska’s stunning Kenai Peninsula. It’s an opportunity to practice broad-spectrum medicine in a setting where your skills have real impact—and where every patient is more than a chart.
You’ll spend three to four days per week in the outpatient clinic, seeing a manageable 12–15 patients per day. The pace allows you to provide thoughtful, comprehensive care to families across all generations. The remainder of your schedule focuses on inpatient pediatrics—covering newborns, well-baby checks, and the occasional resuscitation or stabilization of more complex cases before transfer. With support from skilled OB/GYNs, midwives, and emergency physicians, your pediatric call (about 10 days per month) feels purposeful and balanced, not burdensome.
This role exists to strengthen pediatric and family care in a region that values continuity, compassion, and local access to quality healthcare. You’ll join a hospital-led initiative to expand pediatric capability in Homer, ensuring that young families can stay close to home for care. The hospital partners with Providence in Anchorage for tele-intensivist coverage and subspecialty consults, offering the best of both worlds—autonomy and robust backup when needed.
This is more than a job—it’s a calling for physicians who want to make a measurable difference while living somewhere extraordinary. With a collegial team, low patient volumes, and a setting that promotes deep community connection, you’ll rediscover why you entered medicine in the first place.
Here, your days will begin with mountain views, end with ocean sunsets, and fill with moments of real human connection in between.
