History Unveiled: A Journey Through Time

Madras, Oregon, was officially incorporated in 1911, but its history dates back long before that, with roots in the Native American tribes of the region. The city is located within the area traditionally inhabited by the Warm Springs, Wasco, and Paiute tribes, whose rich cultural heritage is still present in the area today. The Warm Springs Indian Reservation, located just northwest of Madras, remains a vital part of the community's history and identity.

Madras’s development began in the early 20th century, spurred by agricultural opportunities.
