We are looking for the following providers: outpatient only with options for hospitalist shifts, OB, C-sections, scopes, family medicine residency preceptor. We have three local provider groups-Mosaic-FQHC, Madras Medical Group and St. Charles. Mosaic wants a clinic provider to improve access. MMG-is open to any type of physician. All three groups are recruiting, and you will have the opportunity to visit with providers from each group to see if there is a fit in their organization. We have a diverse patient population with about one third being Hispanic, one third Native American and one third White/other. Three of our providers speak Spanish (Dr. Jinnell Lewis, MD, Dr. William Irvine, MD, and Dr. Leonard Savage, MD ) Translation services are provided on the translation software on the computers.
According to Todd Shields-VP Administration, the entire administrative team is very supportive of recruiting additional primary care providers. Our primary care physicians are working 1440 hours a year versus the 1780 they used to work. This more limited work schedule has allowed our doctors to provide better engagement, coding improvement and an increase in their income by close to $100K. There are plans to open a new clinic and invest close to $12M. But that won’t happen until at earliest in 2027. We have a higher acuity of patients in our community. We also have plans to have a pharmacy at St. Charles. We currently have one with Mosaic, our FQHC and the local Safeway.
The Family Medicine Residency Program focused on the Rural Training track started in June 2024 at OHSU and residents will move to Madras in August 2025. We will start with 3 second year residents in 2025, and in 2026, we will have 3 second year residents and 3 third year residents. This is a Partnership with Mosaic and St. Charles and Indian Health Services. The residents are having their first year of internship conducted at OHSU in Portland for the 2024-2025 program year. Having only 3 residents per year, will allow the residents to get plenty of exposure to all aspects of a rural training program. There will even be an option for a 2–4-week rotation with the OBGYN’s in Bend, or OHSU, to get more volume. Like other programs our residents will be working directly with attendings, in the hospital seeing the patients first.
Your first step will be to submit a copy of your CV along with two potential phone interview dates and times.
Dr. Carey Allen and Jessica Petkovic-phone IV
The first phone interview will be conducted by Brandon and the second phone interview will include Dr. Neill and available team. Should those calls go well, an onsite interview will be set up. For our OB/C-Section physicians, please submit the last 1-2 years of case logs prior to your onsite interview. This will help our team better prepare for your interview. Additionally, the credentialling department will need this documentation to provide the appropriate staff privileges. After the interview, and there is mutual interest, a letter of intent (LOI) will be sent by Brandon. This is a two-page document that will outline the terms of the contact. Once the LOI is signed via DocuSign, the legal department will draft your contract. Upon receipt of your agreement, please read through it with out stopping. This will give you a better sense of its entirety. On the following day, read through the agreement, stopping after each section. If you completely understand that section, just make a notation that you do not have any questions. But if you have a question that needs additional clarification, just underline that section or word, and we will get that question answered. If you are not Oregon licensed, you should anticipate a start date to be about 6 months after signing. As it typically may take up to 3 months to get the Oregon license, and then another 2-3 months to gain credentials with the various insurance providers and for admitting privileges at the hospital.
