Palmetto General Hospital is a community hospital that sees 45K ED visits per year, but that has a lot of the feel of an academic site with a lot of GME programs and a big center feel. Once they were purchased by Stewart they became a tertiary receiving center and the acuity of patients went up. There is a lot of Critical Care that comes through the door, just not from the local community but also from some of our sister sites. The hospital gets everything through the door including STEMI, Stroke, Pulmonary Embolism, ECMO, PCI and pretty much everything besides Transplants. On top of that there's just a lot of really sick patients coming through the door.
As this region continues to flourish and evolve, Steward Health Care is proud to welcome Palmetto General Hospital into our physician-owned-and-led family.
