TeamHealth is seeking an experienced Facility Medical Director at HCA Florida West Hospital and its three* affiliated Freestanding Emergency Departments. This position has become available due to the current director's inability to continue with the required five days per week on-campus commitment.
TeamHealth, a leading organization in the healthcare landscape, staffs the HCA Florida West Hospital, which holds a commendable place among the Nation's Top 100 Hospitals. Although the 515-bed hospital could benefit from some aesthetic upgrades, it provides top-notch services and is conveniently located near a host of amenities. The two Freestanding EDs, nestled in Florida's affluent regions, exhibit contemporary and appealing designs, with a third* slated to open this December.
While the EDs do not have an official trauma designation, the main hospital handles high acuity trauma cases, while the Freestanding EDs focus on lower acuity cases. These EDs together have a patient volume of 2.05 per hour, treating over 95,000 patients annually and all facilities utilize the MediTech EMR system.
As the Facility Medical Director, you will lead an accomplished team, including 20 Emergency Medicine Physicians, 10 Emergency Medicine APCs managed by a Lead APC (Lei Smalley), and a robust nursing staff. Additionally, two Assistant Medical Directors will assist you, particularly with scheduling, implementing changes, and attending meetings.
Your key responsibilities will entail the management of operations and length of stay, using valuable tools provided by TeamHealth like Ingenious Med, Zenith, Tableau, and ShiftAdmin. These resources enable effective real-time adjustments and improve patient experience. Despite the absence of a current residency program, potential plans exist for a future one. Lastly, the director will act as a crucial communication conduit between the C-suite and physicians, ensuring seamless hospital operations.
TeamHealth seeks professionals with a minimum of 2 years of experience and Board Eligible or Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. The ideal candidate will also have experience implementing change and managing a large Emergency Department or multiple ED facilities. Unfortunately, they are not currently considering new graduates, Family Medicine-trained candidates, or J1/H1B visa holders. To help you excel in your leadership role, TeamHealth provides two preparatory leadership training courses.
The role requires a commitment from Monday to Friday, including 4-9 clinical shifts per month and administrative duties. The latter encompasses meetings with nursing staff, reviewing operations, adjusting productivity, attending meetings (in-person or virtually), and liaising with the C-suite. Without a set schedule, you have the ability to tailor your schedule to meet the needs of the hospital and your personal life.
There is no expectation for the director to train residents currently, allowing you to focus on administrative tasks and direct patient care.
