Regional West Health Services is in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. RWHS includes Regional West Medical Center, more than 28 physician clinics, and other hospitals and health system affiliates, including a residential care facility and an insurance company. Regional West Medical Center is a 188-bed hospital, and home to the only Level II Trauma Center in Nebraska west of Kearney. The trauma program includes 24/7 critical care Air Link air ambulance services, which is fully accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS), and serves a population across 5 states: Nebraska, Wyoming, South Dakota, Kansas, and Colorado and 24/7 advanced life support ground ambulance service that serves 16 counties. The Emergency Department is fully staffed by ABEM physicians, as well as midlevel providers, RNs, and dedicated support staff and sees 20,000 patients annually.
There are two dedicated, advanced trauma bays, one OB room, four general emergency rooms, one ENT room, one pediatric specific room, one eye emergency room, eight operating rooms, a 14-bed critical Intensive Care Unit, and a 24-hour Imaging Services Department with two helical CT scanners, MRI, ultrasound, and angiography suite with 24/7 interventional radiology capabilities. A new critical care unit was opened on May 4, 2020. Located on the second floor of the hospital, the new unit features 12 new critical care units, bringing Regional West’s critical care capacity to 40.

Regional West Cancer Treatment Center was granted a three-year accreditation by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS). Patients have access to high-quality, patient-centered cancer care with onsite radiation and surgical oncology, and an outpatient infusion clinic. In August 2021, Regional West enhanced its partnership with UCHealth in Colorado to provide increased access to the most advanced cancer care. This partnership began in 2007 when Medical Center of the Rockies opened in Loveland, Colorado. UCHealth Medical Group currently provides a full-time cardiologist at RWMC and is now to include a full-time Hematologist/Oncologist who will live and practice in the Scottsbluff community. This collaboration will enhance the high-quality services Regional West cancer program already offers, in addition to access specialists with UCHealth Medical Group.
Regional West Physicians Clinic-Surgery, Vascular Diagnostics provides a wide range of comprehensive surgical services, including minimally invasive surgery using the da Vinci robot. The robotic surgery suite opened in February 2020. In less than 5 months, 100 surgical procedures were performed using the da Vinci Surgical System. In February 2022, that number rose to over 850. The clinic is staffed by four full-time board-certified surgeons, one-full-time plastics and reconstructive surgeon, two full-time advance practice nurses, one full-time physician assistant, an insurance specialist and additional support staff. Services include general surgery, laparoscopic surgery, da Vinci robotic surgery, vascular surgery and Bariatric surgery. Additional surgical services include head and neck surgery, neurosurgery and robotic guided spine surgery. In January 2021, RWMC added the Mazor X Stealth Edition Robotic Guidance System, being the first institution in the state of Nebraska to use this technology for minimally invasive spine surgery.
The Scottsbluff Outpatient Surgery Center is located on the hospital campus and specializes in procedures that do not require patients to stay overnight in the hospital. There are two operating rooms and two endoscopy suites. The facility offers a wide range of services including ENT, orthopedics, plastics and reconstructive surgery, general surgery, gynecological, pain management, dental, endoscopy, and anesthesia services.
Additional Regional West Health Services includes Laboratory Services that provides comprehensive clinical, anatomic and cytological testing services in addition to reference laboratory services for providers throughout Nebraska, Wyoming, South Dakota, Iowa and Idaho; Regional West Garden County in Oshkosh, NE, a 10-bed acute care hospital, health care clinic and a 40-bed intermediate care facility; Regional Care, Inc., an independent third-party administrator; The Village at Regional West, a full-service retirement community with 100 units offering independent and assisted living; and the Regional West Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the services and projects of Regional West Health Services.
