Position Overview

Understanding the Role

UT Regional One Physicians (UTROP) is recruiting a board-certified Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician to serve as Director of Labor & Delivery at Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee. The role combines leadership of the labor and delivery service with high-acuity maternal care, teaching, and clinical work across several Memphis hospitals.

Regional One is the region's tertiary referral center for high-risk obstetrics. Other hospitals transfer their sickest obstetric patients here, and many patients combine serious medical disease with social challenges that complicate their care. This role suits an MFM who wants to care for critically ill mothers and complex pregnancies every day.

Why This Position Exists

UTROP is rebuilding its MFM division. The plan is to strengthen the core faculty in Memphis first, then reopen satellite MFM and ultrasound access points as staffing allows. Relatively few MFMs practice in the Memphis market outside UTROP.

The division also needs experienced physicians between its senior and early-career faculty. You would mentor younger faculty and fellows and help guide the program through its next stage.

You would serve as Director of L&D from the start. The role keeps you active in the daily work of the unit. Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with L&D nursing leadership
  • Overseeing unit policies and operational changes
  • Leading quality measures required by the state and by contracts
  • Taking part in state maternal morbidity and mortality work
  • Serving on hospital morbidity, mortality, and quality committees

Protected administrative time and a leadership stipend are set with each candidate based on your needs and preferences.
