You would join a small academic MFM division where faculty know each other's patients and work closely with trainees. The division spans senior faculty with decades in Memphis and early-career physicians trained in the program. As an experienced fetal specialist, you would help mentor early-career faculty and fellows.
| Physician | Academic Role | Clinical Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Paul Wendel, MD | Professor; MFM Division Chief and Fellowship Program Director | Maternal MFM and labor and delivery |
| Norman Meyer, MD, PhD | Professor; Vice-Chair, Obstetrics and Gynecology | Obstetric ultrasound |
| Angela Nakahara, MD | Assistant Professor; Associate Program Director, MFM Fellowship | Maternal Fetal Medicine and complex obstetric surgery |
| William Holls, MD [profile link to confirm] | Professor | Maternal Fetal Medicine |
Norman Meyer, MD, PhD has led the ultrasound program for more than four decades.
Angela Nakahara, MD completed her MFM fellowship at UTHSC and joined the faculty after training.
Fetal cases often involve specialists across two hospitals. You would work with pediatric cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery at Le Bonheur. You would also work with the neonatology team that cares for babies at both sites.
On the maternal side, MFM faculty meet each morning to set the labor and delivery plan. In a fetal-focused role, attendance is optional, since your day starts in ultrasound.
