The Gynecologic Oncology team includes five attending physicians, six fellows, and several support staff. The division values teamwork and collaboration, though current staff members have expressed a desire for improved coordination and transparency across the multiple sites. There is a focus on mentoring junior staff, with an emphasis on diversity and supporting career growth, particularly for women in leadership roles.
The division operates in collaboration with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and other specialists, ensuring comprehensive care for cancer patients. There is a strong academic focus, with ongoing clinical trials and robust publication output expected from faculty members.
Our Physicians
UCI Health gynecologic oncologists are nationally and internationally known for their expertise in treating all gynecologic cancers, including minimally invasive or robot-assisted surgery for advanced or recurrent ovarian, fallopian tube and primary peritoneal cancers.
Their expertise has helped to shape the way these types of surgeries are performed around the world through their extensive research studies and medical education textbooks. They are among the first in the region to offer our patients hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy or HIPEC, a unique treatment designed to kill ovarian cancer cells left behind after surgery.
