This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled pediatric surgeon to join a dedicated and experienced team at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, a member of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The role is focused on providing top-tier surgical care to a diverse pediatric population while contributing to the growth and development of the department. Currently there are 2 full time pediatric surgeons, with 1 nearing retirement. The goal is to have 4 full time pediatric surgeons, ensuring manageable call schedules and allowing the group to meet increasing patient demands while maintaining work-life balance.
The position is primarily clinical, with ample opportunities to engage in academics as our pediatric surgeons work closely with medical students, residents and fellows. There is also an opportunity for research, if desired.
Our pediatric surgeons specifically focus on patients 12 and under and practice full scope including minor abscess, scopes, head and neck, thoracic, oncology, gynecology and vascular, and includes trauma and emergency cases.
The practice emphasizes a collaborative and team-oriented culture, with no hierarchy in the operating room and open communication between all members of the surgical team, including residents, nurses, and anesthesiologists. The position offers a structured and supportive environment that promotes professional development and personal satisfaction.
The incoming pediatric surgeon will report directly to the division chief, ensuring clear communication and leadership support. A balanced work schedule is an integral part of the position, with call responsibilities organized to ensure adequate rest and recovery time for surgeons.
Candidates must possess a medical degree, be board-certified or board-eligible in pediatric surgery, and hold or be eligible for medical licensure in Georgia. Additional qualifications and certifications are welcomed but not required. New graduates or seasoned professionals are encouraged to apply.
