You don’t need to leave the state to get the highest quality medical care. Wyoming Medical Center is Casper’s only nonprofit, full-service, acute care hospital, located both in the heart of the city and the heart of Wyoming.
In October 2020, WMC partnered with Banner Health to become the healthcare system’s flagship hospital for the state of Wyoming. We are the largest hospital in Wyoming with two campuses and 14 primary, specialty, and immediate care clinics. As a regional trauma and referral center, we serve 11 Wyoming counties with more than 250,000 people by providing comprehensive heart, stroke, and trauma care.
Wyoming Medical Center has served the citizens of Natrona County for more than 85 years. Founded in 1911, the facility started as a small county hospital with a limited reach and has since grown into a regional medical center that serves the whole of Wyoming. For example, Wyoming Medical Center has the largest heart program in the state. As well, the hospital’s cancer center is the biggest and most comprehensive in Wyoming, treating more than 500 new cancer patients every year. In addition, Wyoming Medical Center has the only emergency air transport system in the state, along with the only hyperbaric oxygen center. When new medical technologies and services are brought to the state, Wyoming Medical Center is usually the leader.
Accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, Wyoming Medical Center works closely with its highly skilled medical staff to offer more than 40 inpatients and outpatient specialties. The strength of these physicians is demonstrated by the fact that more than 82 percent of the doctors in Casper are board certified, which is well above the national average. WMC’s partnership with these doctors allows them to be recognized as the leading regional source in key clinical areas including cancer treatment, cardiovascular medicine, neurosciences, trauma, nephrology, infectious diseases, orthopedics and sports medicine, gastroenterology, and urology.
