This is an opportunity to provide outpatient family medicine care to an underserved Native Alaskan population. The job requires comprehensive care for patients of all ages, managing chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, prenatal care, providing contraception services including Nexplanon and IUD insertion/removal, and performing sutures and casting. You will also travel to Native Alaskan villages 1-2 times per quarter for 2-5 days to provide patient care in village clinics. The Native Alaskan population is very welcoming and the healthcare providers find the experience rewarding. You will work Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM with no weekends, no call, and see 16-18 patients per day. The electronic medical record system used is a custom version of Cerner, which may be challenging for some physicians, but there is a dedicated EMR trainer with medical experience that can help orient and support those that need it. To apply for this opportunity, you do not need an Alaska medical license, but you must be board-certified or board-eligible in family medicine and have an active and clean license in another state.
