Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) Compensation Package: A Lucrative Offer for Healthcare Professionals in Alaska

YKHC extends an inviting compensation package that encompasses a competitive salary, a substantial sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, annual retention bonuses, student loan repayment options, abundant time off, and a comprehensive benefits suite. The starting annual salary for this role begins at $261,248 and scales with accrued experience up to $339,622. The second half of total compensation is earned via lucrative bonuses. Each quarter you will be rewarded with an $18,750 bonus, up to $75,000 annually, upon satisfying the department’s required objectives each quarter. The range for total annual compensation, assuming 100% of the quarterly bonuses, is $354,535 - $438,395.

YKHC offers an attractive retention bonus program that reflects their commitment to rewarding dedicated professionals like you. Upon entering a 2-year agreement with YKHC, you become eligible for a retention bonus amounting to 6% of your annual base salary, paid annually on your start date anniversary. For those willing to make a longer commitment with a 3-year agreement, the benefits are even more substantial. In this extended arrangement, you will receive a 7% retention bonus of your base salary for the first two years, escalating to 9.1% in the third year. This structured bonus system is designed to acknowledge and reward your valuable contributions to the YKHC team over time.

Another notable highlight of the package is the sign-on bonus, which is structured around a 2 or 3-year agreement. Under a 2-year agreement, a $30,000 sign-on bonus is awarded, while a 3-year agreement augments this bonus to $50,000. Fifty percent of the sign-on bonus is tendered upon signing, before relocation, with the remaining fifty percent disbursed on the second day of orientation post your start date. Please note, the sign-on bonus is taxable.

Should relocation be requisite, YKHC provides a robust support system. A sum of $15,000 is allocated for individual relocations, whereas relocating with a spouse or family member sees this amount increased to $20,000. This assistance is remitted prior to your relocation to Alaska, without necessitating any proof of related expenses. Additionally, the cost of initial flights to Bethel, AK for you and your family is covered by YKHC. The relocation assistance is taxable.

Furthermore, the facility holds a 20/26 HPSA site score, paving the way for eligibility in various student loan repayment programs. These include the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment, Alaska SHARP, and Indian Health Services (IHS) Loan Repayment, each offering up to $50,000 for a 2-year commitment with extension options, and up to $47,000 per year under Alaska SHARP with a 2-year commitment.

In terms of time off, YKHC ensures a healthy work-life balance by offering 26 days of Paid Time Off (PTO), in addition to 11 paid holidays and 10 days and $10,000 per year for Continued Medical Education (CME). With managerial approval, providers can amalgamate PTO with holidays and/or CME days.

The benefits suite is meticulously crafted to cater to a diverse range of needs. Health insurance coverage commences on the first day of the month following your start date, with 19 different plans to choose from. Dental and vision benefits cover a majority of preventive, diagnostic, and routine services. The retirement plans include a 403(b) Pre-tax and Roth after-tax available upon employment, and a 401(a) Pension Plan, which you become eligible for after a year of employment. Furthermore, all professionally licensed employees are indemnified for malpractice under the Federal Tort Claims Act by the health system.

For any further inquiries, Nelly Carroll from Human Resources is available to provide detailed responses. Beyond the remunerative offerings of YKHC, residing in Alaska presents its own financial advantages. Notably, Alaska levies no state income or sales tax. Moreover, long-term residency could qualify you for the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend, which is disbursed to all permanent residents each fall. This dividend, which saw an increment in 2022 due to an energy relief payment, amplifying the total amount to $3,284, underscores the financial merits of an Alaskan domicile, further enhancing the overall compensation package offered by YKHC.
