You will be joining a team that has built both professional strength and personal camaraderie. The Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia division currently includes three physicians, with one planning to retire in 2026. This transition creates a timely opportunity for you to step into a well-structured program that values continuity, stability, and growth.
Your work will be closely integrated with two fellowship-trained pediatric cardiac surgeons, with recruitment underway to expand this surgical team further. The broader pediatric surgical service line is also growing, with two general surgeons already in place and two more joining soon. This expansion ensures that your clinical volume will steadily increase and diversify.
Support comes not just from physicians, but also from a skilled group of CRNAs and Anesthesia Assistants who are specifically trained in pediatric cardiac anesthesia. Their expertise allows you to focus on the most complex aspects of care, while also fostering a teaching environment for residents and fellows rotating through the department.
The division is led by Heather Byrd, MD, who oversees Pediatric Anesthesia as Division Chief of Clinical Services. Faculty and staff describe the culture as collegial and family-like, with strong collaboration across nursing, surgical, and intensive care teams.
