Position Overview

4-Years ago, AdventHealth Tampa recognized the diverse population growing immensely in Tampa over the last decade with very limited prenatal care and OBGYN care. They realized they are missing a massive opportunity for whole person care from family practice, initiation of pregnancy, and post-pregnancy care. Dr. Francis Nuthalapaty, our current MFM physician, is the current OBGYN Residency Program Director that is starting in 2024. Their need for recruitment really lies around this. They are driving a residency program to increase internal referrals and patient access/continuity, as well as internal hiring. The West Florida division does thousands of deliveries annually.

AdventHealth’s strategic plan included buying several large practices in the area, so we are driving this program to capture and dominate the market. There is a massive bottle-neck, there are only two major practices at the University of Southern Florida and one private group in the area. USF is extremely overwhelmed as all underserved patients are filtered through there, and the private group can only see commercial patients. Florida is a massive Medicare state. USF’s website has 10 MFM providers listed, all affiliated out of Tampa General Hospital, doing a combined total of 7,000 deliveries in the 2022 fiscal year. AdventHealth does around 8,000 deliveries per year across the west Florida division. AH Tampa contributes 2,500 annually. This program is going to be structured the same way as all other successful MFM programs across AH. Their flagship in Orlando, is extremely successful, doing about 12,000 deliveries annually. They are fully staffed and will be on the exact same models, compensation, and packages as Tampa. This will be considwred a core faculty position.

We currently have 6 OBGYNS across the west Florida division and Dr. Francis Nuthalapaty, 2024 OBGYN Residency Program Director is the current MFM in Tampa.

AHMG OBGYN clinicians (Sebring, Tampa, WC, ZH)= 21; 226 MFM referrals have gone out of system since 1/1/23- annualized- 452

Being bilingual in Spanish would be phenomenal, but not required. If you’re willing to learn, we can pay for classes. Again, not required.
