Adventist Health Reedley is a 49-bed acute-care hospital with emergency, laboratory, medical imaging services and a Birth Center with all private rooms and a family-centered environment. Our hospital offers the expertise and resources of a large healthcare system combined with the personal care of a home-town hospital.
All surgeries and deliveries are done at the hospital campus in Reedley. For GYN surgeries, there is dedicated block time for all OBGYNS, with our team averaging 2-4 surgeries a week. Neither location has Da Vinci Robots, and there are no plans to get one in the future. You will start out with one half day in the OR per week, and as your practice grows it will increase to a full day.
Our organization is very adaptive to each physician’s needs, according to Dr. Dominguez “Adventist will get you whatever you need to have a successful practice”.
When it is time for the delivery, you have a great support staff ready to assist. We try to give the patients the most amount of privacy possible, so all 8 Labor & Delivery suites are set up with an external enclave for washing of hands, checking notes and conversations between physicians and staff. Over the last two years we have done 1,196 & 1,192 deliveries between 4 employed OBGYNS.
We have anesthesia on-site 24/7, this is a contracted group of CRNA’s with one main attending, and 1 back-up that stays across the street from the hospital. So, if there is ever a situation where emergency C-Section is needed, staff can call the back-up, who can be in the birthing center in minutes to provide anesthesia.
We also have a pediatrician or Family Medicine resident attending every birth. This is by choice of the Pediatric group, who feel it is in the best interest of the child to be there from first breath. The hospital does not have a NICU, but we have great relationships with all facilities in the area for transfers. We typically transfer out anything 36 weeks and earlier, we try to stabilize and ship as much as possible.
For any deliveries that require an MFM, we have a great relationship with the team at UCSF- Fresno. They are about 20 minutes away but are always available via phone consult. There is also a great Children’s Hospital 30-45 Minutes Away, called Valley Children’s Hospital, which is in North Fresno but also has a presence at our combined facility in Fowler.
