Understanding the Role

Pioneering Oncology Care in a New State-of-the-Art Facility

As you walk through the doors of AdventHealth's new cancer center in Rome, Georgia, you'll immediately sense the opportunity before you – not just to practice medicine, but to help shape the future of oncology care in northwest Georgia. This role offers the rare chance to join a growing program at the ground floor of an exciting expansion, where your expertise and vision will directly influence how cancer care evolves in this community. Unlike academic centers where bureaucracy can stifle innovation or large established practices where protocols are firmly entrenched, this position provides the perfect balance of institutional support and entrepreneurial freedom.

Your practice will be centered in the brand-new, state-of-the-art cancer center scheduled to open in 2026, located just half a mile from AdventHealth Redmond, a 230-bed comprehensive hospital. This purpose-built facility represents AdventHealth's significant investment in expanding oncology services and providing exceptional care closer to home for patients across northwest Georgia. As patients arrive seeking hope and healing, you’ll be supported by cutting-edge technology and a compassionate multidisciplinary team committed to whole-person care.

  • Opportunity to help establish and grow a new oncology practice while collaborating with the existing team led by Dr. Mayur Mody in nearby Calhoun
  • Position within a single oncology service line with two sites (Rome & Calhoun), fostering collaboration and shared resources
  • Standard hours: Monday–Thursday 9 AM – 5 PM, Friday 9 AM – 12 PM
  • Board certification/eligibility in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology required
  • Preference for physicians interested in treating both hematologic malignancies and solid tumors

The Rome community presents a significant growth opportunity for AdventHealth, with a strong need for comprehensive oncology services. Currently, many patients must travel long distances for specialized cancer care, which creates both a community need and a robust referral base. AdventHealth’s substantial investment in this cancer center highlights a long-term commitment to service expansion, including radiation oncology and enhanced infusion capabilities.

This is more than a job — it's your chance to help create something extraordinary. With leadership opportunities on the horizon and a role in shaping program development, this position is ideal for a motivated oncologist with 15+ years of career runway who wants to grow alongside the program they help build. You'll report to the oncology service line leader while enjoying autonomy in establishing clinical protocols, care pathways, and practice culture in Rome.

Joining AdventHealth Rome means becoming part of something bigger – an opportunity to build a legacy of exceptional cancer care while advancing your career in a system that values clinical excellence and innovation. Your work won’t just treat patients – it will transform how a community experiences cancer care for generations to come.
