Step into a pivotal role where your expertise will directly impact the lives of patients across Eastern Kentucky and beyond. As a Hematology-Oncologist with Appalachian Regional Healthcare, you'll join a comprehensive cancer care network serving six locations across Kentucky and West Virginia, with particular focus on two priority markets: Hazard and Highlands (Prestonsburg).
This position offers the unique opportunity to practice full-spectrum hematology and oncology while being part of a health system that has grown from 9 to 14 hospitals over the past 15 years, demonstrating sustained commitment to expanding access to specialized care in underserved communities.
Your practice will serve a vast geographic area where patients currently travel up to 100 miles to receive oncology care, underscoring the critical need for your expertise in this region. With ARH's established affiliate relationship with the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center—an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center—you'll have access to academic resources, virtual tumor boards across all subspecialties, and seamless referral pathways for complex cases while maintaining the autonomy and personal patient relationships that make community practice so rewarding.
The role presents an exciting opportunity to help establish care in the Highlands market, where you would be the first dedicated medical oncologist, while also supporting the established comprehensive cancer center in Hazard. With 500+ new oncology cases annually at Hazard alone and growing volumes across the system, you'll build a robust practice while maintaining excellent work-life balance.
This represents a unique opportunity to join a health system experiencing sustained growth, with exciting expansion plans including a new cancer center with linear accelerator in the Cumberland Valley market. As part of ARH's commitment to bringing comprehensive cancer care closer to home for Appalachian communities, you'll play an essential role in a mission-driven organization that has served this region for decades.
