Family and Internal Medicine Physicians will be working in an outpatient-only practice with no hospital responsibilities. The role offers leadership opportunities, such as participating in quality improvement work and Account Care Organization (ACO) committees. The number of exam rooms varies based on the size of the practice location, but typically each physician is assigned 3 exam rooms. The call schedule involved being on call for 1 week per quarter, handling phone calls from 5 pm to 8 am on weekdays and throughout the weekend. There is no nurse triage system to screen calls. Providers can expect an average of 1-2 calls per night during their on-call week, but they do not need to come into the office.
The average patient load is 20 patients per day. Full-time providers work 5 days per week in the clinic, with the flexibility for a 4-day work week if desired. The patient population consists of less than 10% pediatric patients, with the remaining split between adults and geriatrics, thought the exact proportion varies across practice locations.
