Understanding the Role

Your Gateway to Independent Practice in Big Sky Country

Imagine practicing in a nationally-recognized Top 20 Critical Access Hospital, where your expertise directly impacts an entire community's access to surgical and obstetric care. At Barrett Hospital & Healthcare in Dillon, Montana, you'll join a 3-person CRNA team providing essential anesthesia services to Beaverhead County and surrounding rural communities—a vast service area where your skills become the difference between local care and a 50-minute ambulance ride to the next tertiary facility.

This isn't just another CRNA position; it's an opportunity to practice with true autonomy while maintaining the work-life balance that drew you to healthcare in the first place. Your distinctive 3-week rotating schedule—two weeks of engaging clinical practice followed by a full week completely off—means you'll have 17 weeks of uninterrupted personal time annually. During your clinical weeks, you'll work Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 5 PM, with no weekend obligations during your non-call week, allowing you to fully explore Montana's outdoor paradise or simply recharge at home.

  • Full-scope CRNA practice with complete autonomy in a hospital-employed position, reporting directly to the Chief Clinical Officer
  • Rotating 3-week schedule providing predictable work-life integration with 10-day blocks completely off
  • Week 1 includes call responsibilities while Week 2 is entirely call-free, creating sustainable practice rhythms
  • Anesthesia team for two operating rooms, endoscopy suite, and labor & delivery unit
  • Service area covering all of Beaverhead County with referral relationships to major medical centers in Bozeman, Missoula, and Salt Lake City

The hospital's commitment to maintaining local surgical and obstetric services means your presence enables families to receive care close to home rather than traveling to larger cities. You'll collaborate with orthopedic, general surgery, obstetrics, and urology specialists who have chosen rural practice for the same reasons you're considering it—the chance to make a profound difference while living in one of America's last best places.

This position represents more than a career move—it's an invitation to practice anesthesia on your own terms while becoming an integral part of a close-knit medical community. Here, your clinical expertise meets unparalleled quality of life, creating the sustainable, fulfilling practice you've been seeking.
