Step into a pivotal role as the third full-time Gynecologic Oncologist at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple, joining a dedicated team that anchors women’s cancer care across Central Texas. This opportunity extends beyond subspecialty practice—it’s your chance to directly impact women’s cancer outcomes within an organization that has identified gynecologic oncology as one of its “Big Six” strategic service lines, ensuring exceptional institutional backing and resources for your success.
Your scope of practice spans the full continuum of gynecologic oncology—from complex malignancies requiring surgical precision to challenging benign cases referred by OB/GYNs when procedural complexity exceeds general scope. Currently, the two-physician team maintains an 18–19 day new-patient wait time; your addition will be instrumental in advancing the department’s “faster and fastest” initiative—a transformative model designed to eliminate diagnostic and treatment delays. You’ll play a central role in prioritizing newly diagnosed cancer patients for rapid access to care.
This new role reflects strategic expansion, not replacement—signaling organizational commitment to women’s cancer care. Your schedule balances three clinic days and two surgical days weekly, enabling sustained patient engagement and surgical mastery. Typical clinic hours run 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with 20–40 minutes daily of administrative time for charting, education prep, and coordination—ensuring excellence without burnout.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Your expertise will serve as the regional safety net for complex gynecologic cases across Central Texas. Local OB/GYNs regularly refer patients requiring advanced surgical management, ensuring a robust case mix of both malignant and complex benign pathology. You’ll provide skills not otherwise available in the immediate area, directly improving access and outcomes for women across the region.
In this role, you’ll enjoy both autonomy and influence—reporting directly to departmental leadership while shaping your practice’s direction. With both Cancer Care and OB/GYN identified as priority service lines, your input will help guide decisions on resource allocation, program growth, and clinical innovation. You’ll have a voice in enhancing surgical capacity, expanding chemotherapy resources, and optimizing the cancer care continuum.
As the program expands, opportunities abound to develop specialized clinics, lead quality improvement initiatives, or spearhead new treatment protocols. Administration has already committed to additional OR time and infrastructure to support this service line’s growth. Joining now places you at the forefront of a transformative era in women’s cancer care at Baylor Scott & White—where your expertise shapes both patient outcomes and the future of gynecologic oncology in Central Texas.
