Meet the Team

Joining a Team Built on Collaboration and Excellence

You’ll become the third member of an established gynecologic oncology team known for its collaborative culture and shared commitment to excellence. Your two partners—one bringing the energy of recent training and the other the wisdom of experience—have built a system that balances patient volume, resident education, and outstanding outcomes. Together, you’ll join a team where different perspectives are valued, innovation is welcomed, and shared expertise enhances every patient’s care.

This is not a competitive academic environment—it’s a true partnership rooted in mutual respect and adaptability. When patient loads surge or complex cases arise, the team seamlessly supports one another to ensure care quality never wavers. Every physician’s success directly contributes to the shared mission of advancing women’s cancer care in Central Texas.

  • Two full-time gynecologic oncologists currently managing the regional referral base
  • Complementary experience levels fostering dynamic collaboration
  • Active participation in monthly tumor boards promoting multidisciplinary dialogue
  • Shared commitment to the “faster and fastest” cancer access initiative
  • Culture of flexibility during high-volume consultation periods
  • Integrated relationships with REI, IVF, and urogynecology specialists for comprehensive care

Exceptional Support Infrastructure

Your efficiency will be amplified by a highly skilled support network designed around the unique demands of gynecologic oncology. A dedicated oncology nurse navigator anchors the program, guiding patients from diagnosis through survivorship—coordinating appointments, managing logistics, and smoothing insurance challenges so that you can focus entirely on clinical care.

Two nurse coordinators manage the intricate scheduling needs of surgical and multimodal therapy patients, while a consistent team of LVNs and CMAs provide 1:1 provider support during clinic sessions. These are not transient team members—they’re dedicated professionals deeply familiar with oncology workflows and patient needs. An authorization specialist expedites pre-approvals, and leadership is exploring the addition of a gynecologic oncology APP to further enhance patient access.

  • Oncology nurse navigator coordinating complete patient journeys
  • Two nurse coordinators for surgical and chemotherapy scheduling
  • 1:1 nursing support during clinic sessions
  • Authorization specialist streamlining insurance processes
  • Consideration for APP support to expand patient capacity
  • Established workflows tailored to cancer-specific care

Teaching Faculty and Resident Integration

Your role as teaching faculty offers the intellectual rewards of academic medicine—without the pressure of mandatory publications. With 20 OB/GYN residents in this fully ACGME-accredited program, and a faculty-to-resident ratio below 1:1, you’ll enjoy meaningful, hands-on teaching without overload. Residents contribute significantly to documentation, OR assistance, and patient management, enhancing your productivity.

The program prioritizes clinical mastery over research volume. You’ll teach through real-world application—case discussions, surgical mentoring, and modeling the compassionate communication that defines exceptional oncologic care. Through initiatives like inpatient cancer diagnosis capture, you’ll play a key role in elevating system-wide performance while shaping tomorrow’s women’s health leaders.

Integrated Subspecialty Network

Beyond your immediate team, you’ll collaborate within a comprehensive women’s health network that includes specialists in reproductive endocrinology (REI), IVF, and urogynecology—ensuring seamless, multidisciplinary care for even the most complex cases. This integrated model fosters efficient internal referrals and unified treatment planning.

You’ll also partner with the broader oncology community at the Vasicek Cancer Treatment Center, a facility recognized with the Commission on Cancer’s Outstanding Achievement Award for three consecutive survey cycles—an honor earned by just 4% of U.S. cancer programs. Within this ecosystem, you’ll work alongside medical and radiation oncologists committed to expedited, evidence-based care.

Joining this team means entering an established, high-functioning practice where infrastructure, collegiality, and institutional backing converge. You’re not building a program from scratch—you’re adding your expertise to a service already poised for strategic growth and sustained excellence.
