Navigating the Clinical Component

The Nocturnist Laborist provides overnight in-house labor and delivery coverage at BSWH Medical Center, Temple. Patient acuity is mixed, with a meaningful share of high-acuity cases supported by the hospital's Level IV Maternal and Neonatal designation. The laborist works alongside an OBGYN team with onsite access to a full set of subspecialists.

The Temple location offers consultation access to the following OBGYN subspecialties:

  • Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI)
  • Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM)
  • Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS)
  • Gynecologic Oncology (GynOnc)
  • Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology

Advanced Practice Support

Two full-time advanced practice providers support the OBGYN service line at this location.

Teaching and Academic Environment

Temple is the academic flagship for BSWH and the home of Baylor College of Medicine, School of Medicine, Temple. The campus enrolled its first class of 40 medical students in 2023, with both basic science and clinical rotations completed on site. The Temple campus also hosts more than 500 residents and fellows across the spectrum of medical specialties, creating an active teaching environment for OBGYN providers.
