The role provides in-house overnight labor and delivery coverage at the flagship academic medical center for Central Texas. This is a hospital-employed position with no state income tax.

The Nocturnist Laborist provides direct labor and delivery patient care during overnight hours at a Level I Trauma facility with a Level IV Maternal and Neonatal designation. The hospital handles approximately 3,000 deliveries per year, many of which are high acuity, and the laborist supports the broader OBGYN team by managing in-house obstetric coverage during the night shift.
The Temple region includes 35 physicians in the broader OBGYN department.
The position carries a Baylor College of Medicine, School of Medicine, Temple academic appointment. The Temple campus enrolled its first class of 40 medical students in 2023, with both basic science and clinical rotations completed on site. Temple also serves as the home to more than 500 residents and fellows across the spectrum of medical specialties.
