Navigating the Clinical Component

Comprehensive Outpatient Cardiology Experience

At Bozeman Health Cardiology, you'll enjoy a full-spectrum outpatient practice that offers both clinical diversity and diagnostic expertise without the strain of hospital call. Your days will be structured to maximize meaningful patient care while incorporating dedicated time for diagnostic interpretation, creating a practice rhythm that promotes both clinical satisfaction and intellectual engagement.

You'll immediately begin seeing patients from your first week, with a diverse patient population spanning all adult age ranges but particularly focused on the area's growing senior demographic. Unlike many hospital practices where cardiologists struggle to balance clinic time with inpatient responsibilities, your practice will maintain a predictable schedule that allows for both thorough patient care and personal well-being.

  • Immediate ramp-up period with 10-15 patients daily in clinic
  • Four longer clinic days (9 AM-5 PM) with one weekday off each week
  • Patient population primarily drawn from Southwest Montana's growing communities
  • Diverse mix of new consultations and established patient follow-ups
  • Strong referral pipeline from primary care, ED, and hospitalist services
  • Referral-only practice model that maintains appropriate utilization
  • Epic EMR system supporting efficient documentation and care coordination

Diagnostic Excellence and Team-Based Care

Your practice will include regular rotation in the diagnostic reading pool, where you'll interpret a variety of cardiovascular studies. This rotation typically occurs one day per week, providing a refreshing change of pace from direct patient care while keeping your interpretive skills sharp. The practice is also implementing an innovative team-based care model that pairs cardiologists with dedicated APCs to optimize patient access and physician efficiency.

  • Regular rotation in diagnostic reading duties (approximately one day per week)
  • Interpretation of diverse cardiac studies:
    • Echocardiograms: 20-25 daily
    • ECGs: 80 daily
    • Treadmill Stress Tests: 3 daily
    • Stress Echocardiograms: 3 daily
    • Nuclear Studies: 1-2 daily
    • Transesophageal Echocardiograms: 1-2 daily
    • Cardiac CT: 2-3 daily
    • Cardiac Monitors: 15 daily
    • Device Reports: 25-30 daily
  • Collaborative practice with 6 APCs who manage 8-12 patients daily
  • Team-based care model pairing physicians and APCs for optimal efficiency
  • APCs handle appropriate follow-up visits, allowing you to focus on complex cases
  • New patients seen initially by both cardiologist and APC for seamless continuity
  • Strong nursing and clinical support staff to enhance workflow
