Position Overview

Understanding the Role

The Neonatologist position at Bozeman Health offers an exceptional opportunity to provide specialized care to premature and term newborns in a state-of-the-art Level II NICU in Bozeman, Montana. This full-time role is designed for a board-certified Neonatologist who thrives in collaborative, team-based environments and is passionate about leadership, education, and advancing neonatal care quality.

Physicians in this role will handle a variety of responsibilities, including supervising Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) and pediatric hospitalists, conducting daily rounds, and managing NICU-level patients. The position also involves prenatal and antepartum consultations, developing care plans, and performing procedures. With a schedule of 180 annual 24-hour shifts (including up to 22 mutually agreed-upon 12-hour in-house shifts), the role offers the flexibility of off-site call coverage for a portion of the shifts.

While this position initially focuses on delivering excellent clinical care, it also offers the potential for growth into a Medical Director role over time. This opportunity enables the physician to take a leadership position in shaping the NICU’s transition to Level III care, ensuring seamless service delivery, and driving quality initiatives.

This opportunity arises as Bozeman Health’s NICU has reached a sustained level of activity and growth, creating the need for a full-time permanent Neonatologist to provide consistent, high-quality care. This transition marks a pivotal moment in the NICU’s evolution, offering a rewarding chance to contribute to the long-term success of the program while positively impacting the lives of families in Southwest Montana.

Situated within Bozeman Health Deaconess Regional Medical Center, the NICU benefits from advanced imaging technology and a collaborative care environment. As part of the Vermont Oxford Network, the NICU supports quality improvement through benchmarking and data-driven initiatives. This ensures continuous improvement in neonatal outcomes and care delivery.

This role is ideal for a Neonatologist looking to grow with a progressive hospital, contribute meaningfully to community health, and enjoy a balanced, fulfilling professional schedule.
