In addition to our new inpatient unit opening, we have additional support from our Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES). Located adjacent to the emergency department at Bozeman Health Deaconess Regional Medical Center, this state-of-the-art facility was designed to provide a calming and therapeutic environment for patients experiencing acute behavioral health needs. The PES area delivered an enhanced level of care, reflecting Bozeman Health's commitment to investing in the regional behavioral health continuum.
The PES area could accommodate up to five patients simultaneously, featuring two private rooms and a community milieu area. A dynamic, multidisciplinary team comprising crisis intervention specialists, peer support specialists, psychiatric patient care technicians, registered nurses, and a psychiatric nurse practitioner provided 24/7 evaluations, therapeutic support, and medication management for individuals seeking care during a behavioral health crisis.
This vital addition to Bozeman Health's services represented a $2 million investment in crisis care, made possible through a $325,000 contribution from the City of Bozeman's COVID-19 relief funds and generous donors. The new PES area improved patient outcomes, alleviated pressure on the criminal justice system, and enhanced the overall well-being of the community by providing expert, compassionate care for those in crisis.
