The Hospital is a non-profit entity, organized exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The not-for-profit status ensures that all financial resources, after operating expenses are paid, are committed to improving technology, patient services, and the facility. Here at Central Peninsula Hospital, we never forget our mission, which is our dedication to promoting wellness and providing high quality health care that ensures the confidence and loyalty of our customers. We are on a quest to become a regional medical center focused on improving individual and community health, while achieving national standards of excellence.

In 2022, CPH ended with a net profit of $23 Million Dollars after giving away more than $20 Million dollars in uncompensated care to the underserved, through their charitable foundation. As the hospital is owned by the Borough, they feel it is vitally important to give back and help those in need. In addition to that, the hospital does not take any subsidies from the borough or the federal government. They are able to provide outstanding care, give back to the community and operate a net profile by being extremely well run, having incredible outcomes and establishing such a great reputation that they draw patients from across the peninsula.
An eleven-member volunteer Board of Directors, comprised of a cross-section of professional, business, and community-active leaders, govern the hospital. Board Members must be at least 19 years old and be a resident of the Central Kenai Peninsula Borough Hospital Service Area of the Kenai Peninsula Borough.

Central Peninsula Hospital (CPH) is a 49 bed, full-service level IV hospital located in Soldotna, Alaska which serves the Central Kenai Peninsula. CPH approaches wellness by including all aspects of healing – mental, emotional, spiritual, social and physical. We have 34 bed Med Surg beds that can be flexed up to 38 with a 9 bed ICU (4 additional Flex beds that are shared with OB) and an E ICU from Providence. We have outstanding Radiology services including both a 3T & 1.5T MRI, 128 Slice CT, 3 Ultrasound Machines, 3 Xray, Stress Test Monitors, Nuclear imaging. The goal in the next few years is to become a designated Regional Referral Center. Our main hospital and all supporting clinics are all connected via Epic EMR, as is Providence in Anchorage so referring patients to all area facilities is seamless. In the last couple years, the hospital put over $1,000,000 into a brand-new pathology department, including hiring 2 Pathologists. This allows them to do virtually everything in house and can get most labs returned in 24-48 hours.
Hospital facilities and services include all private patient rooms, four surgical suites, dedicated C-section suite, family birth center, 24-hour emergency department, imaging, laboratory, oncology/infusion center, outpatient services and physical therapy. Our active medical staff has more than 80 physicians and allied medical staff with specialties including Anesthesia, Allergy and Immunology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, ENT, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Long Term Care, Neurology, OB/GYN, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Orthopedic Spine, Oral Surgery, Pediatric Oral Surgery, Pain Management, Pathology, Pediatrics, Podiatry, Urology, Radiation Oncology and Radiology.
Central Peninsula Hospital & Heritage Place provides a variety of primary medical care to the Central Peninsula area residents. It is a progressive, community hospital & continuing care facility with a highly trained, compassionate staff. The hospital has a full range of services and the capacity to care for the entire family, from the newborn to the geriatric patient. In addition to a 24-hour emergency department, the hospital has a complete family birth center, intensive care unit, medical-surgical unit, outpatient surgery department and an oncology and infusion center. Ancillary services include laboratory, physical medicine, cardiopulmonary, a sleep disorder center and a state-of-the-art imaging department including CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, mammography.
In addition to the hospital, we have a new $42 Million dollar, 83K sq/ft Medical Office Building (that opened in 2017) an Oncology infusion center, 54-bed long term care rehab center, sleep lab and a large Behavioral Health facility with a 10-bed detox center. Residential Chemical Dependency treatments are provided through Serenity House Treatment Center, offering a private place for healing located between Kenai and Soldotna.
The Kenai area benefits from the services of Central Peninsula Hospital’s Kenai Health Center, a satellite facility offering diagnostic imaging and lab services, located at 630 Barnacle Way in Kenai.
Future growth plans include a new Behavioral Health Facility with 50 beds and a 23-hour inpatient unit. Expanding the hospital by 1/3 to add new rooms and expand services. They are looking at adding employed Cardiologists to build that service and ideally Gastroenterology as well. We want to bring all of the primary care clinics to the new Medical Office Building (instead of being offsite in clinics) so referrals can be handled much easier and faster. We have 3 different Rehab facilities but want to condense that to one and expand the overall services it provides.
