Understanding the Role

Your Next Chapter in Hospital-Based Women's Care

Imagine stepping into a role where you become an integral part of Central Florida's most prestigious women's health program, joining a team of 80–90 dedicated OBGYN hospitalists who are transforming the delivery of obstetric and gynecologic care across multiple state-of-the-art facilities. As an OBGYN Hospitalist with AdventHealth Orlando, you'll practice at the forefront of hospital-based women's care in a rapidly growing market that's attracting 10,000 new residents monthly, creating unprecedented demand for your expertise.

Your practice will encompass both obstetric and gynecologic hospital care, distinguishing this opportunity from traditional laborist positions. You'll provide comprehensive coverage for unassigned patients while supporting 33 community practice groups across the system, allowing private physicians to maintain better work-life balance while ensuring their patients receive exceptional care. This isn't just about filling shifts—it's about becoming part of a collaborative model that's setting new standards for hospital-based women's care in Florida.

Service Area and Community Impact

AdventHealth's women's services span three strategic counties – Seminole, Orange, and Osceola – while drawing patients from a ten-county region. With 15,000 annual deliveries across the system and two new labor and delivery units opening by December 2026, you'll be joining during an extraordinary period of expansion. These positions exist purely due to growth—with 10,000 new residents moving to Central Florida monthly and record delivery volumes achieved in 2024 at all four current hospitals, AdventHealth is rapidly scaling to meet community demand. The system currently holds 29% of the regional OB market share and 34.6% of the GYN surgical market, positioning you at the heart of Central Florida's dominant women's health network.

  • Full-time position requiring 14 twelve-hour shifts monthly (with flexibility for part-time arrangements)
  • Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology required (board-eligible residents considered with special arrangements)
  • Active Florida medical license or eligibility for licensure
  • In-house call only – no home call requirements
  • Primary location selection with potential coverage at multiple campuses
  • Direct reporting to hospitalist medical director with collaborative team structure
  • Teaching opportunities available with OB/GYN residency program (optional)
  • Special program participation including ACCRETA team for complex cases

The role offers remarkable flexibility in crafting your ideal practice environment. You'll select a primary campus based on your comfort with acuity levels and personal preferences, with opportunities ranging from the Level IV facility at Orlando (handling the highest-risk cases) to community hospitals with more routine deliveries. Unlike many hospitalist programs that rigidly assign locations, you'll know your schedule three to four months in advance and work primarily at your chosen facility.

This position represents more than a career move—it's an invitation to join a forward-thinking organization that's actively reshaping women's healthcare delivery in one of America's fastest-growing regions. With AdventHealth's commitment to physician well-being, collaborative practice models, and continuous innovation, you'll find yourself in an environment where your expertise is valued, your growth is supported, and your impact on the community is profound.
