Position Overview

Understanding the Role

Lead the Future of Oncology in Eastern Oregon

At Good Shepherd Medical Center, you will step into a transformative role at a critical moment for cancer care in the region. As the hospital expands into a regional health hub, your expertise as a hematologist/oncologist will be pivotal in building a comprehensive cancer program that brings world-class care close to home. You won’t simply join an existing department; you’ll help shape a vision, develop infrastructure, and meet a deeply felt need in a community that currently has limited local oncology options.

You’ll work alongside Dr. Stephen Iacoboni and a dedicated NP in a community-based practice model. Your role will include participating in the design of a state-of-the-art Cancer Center expected to span over 12,000 square feet, including a growing infusion center, pharmacy, and new radiation oncology services. With major closures and service reductions across the region, Hermiston is strategically positioned to become a central access point for high-quality cancer care. Patients are already traveling from western Idaho and underserved parts of Oregon and Washington.

This opportunity is ideal for a physician who thrives on autonomy, innovation, and the chance to make a lasting impact. As you build your panel, you’ll benefit from robust primary care referrals, supportive leadership, and a collaborative team committed to patient-centered care. With a flexible schedule, no call, and strong system backing, you’ll have the resources and time to focus on what matters most: delivering exceptional care and shaping the future of oncology services in Eastern Oregon.
