You’re stepping into a pivotal time of transition. The current core faculty group—including the founding program director, associate program director, and two key surgical educators—will be exiting at the end of January. These leaders built a strong academic and clinical legacy, with deep involvement in trauma, emergency general surgery, elective cases, and surgical critical care. Their departure opens the door for you to shape the next chapter of the program by recruiting, mentoring, and aligning a new team of surgical educators who share your vision.
Although the existing core faculty will be departing, support doesn’t end there. Other surgeons in the community remain actively engaged with residents, providing supervision and contributing to case volumes. The surgical residency is also closely linked with other GME programs such as Emergency Medicine and Anesthesiology, creating collaborative teaching opportunities and faculty cross-support.
This is your opportunity to build a team around shared values: passion for teaching, academic integrity, and clinical excellence. The program’s reputation and accreditation history offer a strong recruiting platform to attract faculty eager to make a lasting impact.
