Position Overview

Understanding the Role

The Breast Imager would be part of MedStar Medical Group radiology (MMGR), consisting of over 120 Radiologists. They are the sole provider of Radiology services for the entire MedStar Health system. They do over 1MM exams annually and cover Washington Hospital (tertiary care facility) and Georgetown Hospital, 7 com- munity hospitals and several imaging centers. There are 4 Radiologists that cover St. Mary’s and others are rotated through as needed.

This is a high-volume practice; 15-20 screens per day (up to 30) and 5-15 diagnostic. Currently they are scheduling 30-days out. We focus on quality of care, not RVU production.

There is very little competition in the area. We have 50-60% of the Radiology market in the county.

The Breast Imager Needs to be fellowship trained or have at least 3-4 years of experience with Stereotactic, US, MR-guided biopsies, 3D Mammography, and breast MR. You should be capable of reading other Radiology cases: CT, US, XR, and basic Fluoroscopy as well as older modalities.

All the state-of-the-art equipment is here as well as an experienced ancillary support staff. If there is something you need, just ask for it.

If you choose, you may have the opportunity to do some General Diagnostic. There is also the option of an academic affiliation with the Georgetown Hospital.
