This is a leadership role in Hematology/Oncology. Partner with a team of exceptional providers at a nationally recognized NCI-designated university health system. A special focus on Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Leukemia, Melanoma, and BMT expertise, and this role offers a remarkable opportunity for impactful leadership. This is the only place in the state of South Carolina to do bone marrow transplants.
The facility is ranked in the top 25 in the country.
There are growth needs due to volume. Currently the department has 6 attendings which they have disease specific teams. Treatments are offsite and onsite available at Hollings Cancer Center, and Mt. Pleasant is trying to replicate the same. A multi-disciplinary approach is important with candidates who are considered.
The position is 100% malignant hematology, providers can build a panel quickly and can be as busy as they desire.
The University has three other providers who see benign hematology patients. The current team stays very busy with a high patient and census volume, and they see the highest acuity patients. MUSC can manage patients of any acuity level, so nothing is transferred out. Providers will work in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
This is a versatile role. Embrace a multifaceted position encompassing clinic work, teaching, research, and participation in clinical trials. The academic title will reflect your experience, and you'll have the chance to mentor HEM/ONC fellows to your desired extent.

Utilize Epic EMR system to streamline patient care and optimize your practice.
Open to physicians with various practice experience. HEM/ONC physicians including 2024 fellows (a female candidate would be nice, though will consider all).

A team-oriented candidate is ideal. The malignant hematologist covers inpatients with a research focus.
Open to candidates who want to do inpatient only – possibly 2 weeks on/off or 7 on/off (soon all physicians will be located in the Art building- disease focused).
