Physician Compensation Structure: Balancing Clinical and Academic Roles with Competitive Salaries and Benefits

Base compensation and production goals based on the amount of clinical time. Will start with 6.5 days of clinic and will scale back from there.

Base salary is a 2-year guarantee with 75% at risk component which salary is funded from education, research, leadership and can buy 40% time and 60% clinical (after 2 years will need to meet metrics).
Median Academics: $316,588 HEM/ONC and $281,889 ONC
Professor – $500K possible
Assistant Professor – $400-425K likely or 375K
New graduate - $275-300K (based on recent hire from 2022)


Profit sharing is paid if there is a profit - $10-25K range paid in past (not paid in 2022)

Can do more clinical if desired – 90% clinical and 10% administrative would be considered a master clinician.

The offer letter serves as a contract for the first 12 months with 90-day notice required. After 12 mo. then a yearly contract.

Non-compete is 20-mile radius includes all of Charleston, SC

Sign-on bonus includes relocation: $30-50K for more experienced physicians (3-5 years)
