The department has a need for two breast oncologists, possibly three to join two breast oncologists in the department (one of the two starts Sept 2023). An estimated 450 new breast patients annually have prompted the need, along with an increased number of patients due to transfers and new residents to the area. There is lots of growth in this opportunity, this department serves as a resource for the rest of the state.
The site locations include Hollings Cancer Center, Mt. Pleasant, and North Charleston, SC which are all nearby locations to cancer center. They are also expanding to Nexton location for a general HEM/ONC need which is 30 minutes from Charleston, SC. The role would be a 100 percent Breast Oncology focus. There will be a mix of clinical/ academic duties which is flexible based on the physician desires with a minimum of 60 percent clinical or more. There is an option to do a 70/30 or up to a 90/10 clinical/ academic role. Academic appointments are offered based on experience or current academic rank. The department has multi-disciplinary concepts and genetic counseling available.
