Physician Recruitment Process and Compensation Overview

Ochsner offers a competitive guarantee commensurate with experience and training. The initial contract is for one year and automatically renews. Your base Is guaranteed for two years after that you will go onto a productivity model. However, your base does not go away. You can also receive production bonuses after the first year if you choose to go off the guarantee. The compensation and how it works will be discussed with you in detail at the appropriate time.

To give you an example of what our providers are earning: Our 4 providers are currently averaging 14,000-15,000 RVUs with a high of 19,000. The average RVU rate is about $62.00/RVU. So, let’s say your guarantee is $600,000:

If you divide $600,000 by $62/RVU, you come up with 9,677 RVUs (your target threshold).
If you produce the average RVUs that our providers produce, 14,500, you will earn an additional $200,026 production bonus for a total of $800,026.

We offer 4 weeks of PTO to start and add additional time based on service time, 8 holidays and 2 weeks of paid CME. Our benefits package is comprehensive and includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, long and short-term disability insurance, and much more. Ochsner also provides an occurrence-based malpractice policy that includes your tail insurance.

There are 401(k) and 403(b) retirement options and a 457(b)-plan available that allows physicians additional deferred compensation up to $23,000.

After you satisfy eligibility requirements, Ochsner contributes an amount equal to 2% of earnings, up to a specified compensation limit, into your 401(k) or 403(b). Ochsner will also match an amount equal to 2%, up to a specified compensation limit, of your eligible compensation if you save at least 4% in your 401(k) or 403(b).

And just in general, you can contribute up to $23,500 in 2025 with an additional $7,500 ($31,000) for those at age 50 and older. For those doctors that are age 61, 62, or 63 an additional $3,750 ($34,750).

Additionally, you will get a sign-on bonus that will be given to you as soon as you sign your contract. You do not have to wait to start. They will also provide relocation assistance. Something to be aware of, according to the IRS, this relocation assistance is a taxable item.
