Education

Joplin High School, founded in 1885, is the only public high school in Joplin, Missouri. JHS has a student population of approximately 2,000 students in grades 9-12. JHS is fully accredited by the AdvancED/North Central Association of Schools and Colleges and by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Joplin High School is also a designated A+ School of Excellence. Children are able to take college courses while in high school. In 2014 Joplin School District approved for $62 million giving the district the funds to rebuild schools.

Webb City-Football powerhouse - Its football team has won 15 Missouri state football championships, in the years 1989, 1992, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2019.

Our sports complex has a baseball field for special needs.

New Medical School – Kansas City University

The expansion of KCU into Joplin, Mo., marks a significant milestone. KCU-Joplin is the first medical school campus to open in Missouri in nearly 50 years and the only medical school in the southwest region. The Farber-McIntire campus was made possible by our community partners, including Mercy Hospital Joplin, Freeman Health System, the City of Joplin and philanthropic leadership from the surrounding community including Ozark Center.



New Dental School – Kansas City University

KCU anticipates breaking ground for a new College of Dental Medicine on the KCU-Joplin Farber McIntire Campus in spring 2021 and welcoming the first class of 80 students in 2023. Once fully enrolled, the college will have 320 students each year. The college will use a team-based, comprehensive care general practice model.
