Position Overview

Ozark Center is seeking a board certified adult psychiatrist to treat patients at their Stephens Adult Psychiatric Unit, a 41-bed inpatient center located at Freeman East, serves adults over 18 who experience acute psychiatric disorders such as depression or schizophrenia and need a secure environment. The Stephens Unit provides crisis stabilization services with 24-hour nursing care. Treatments include psychopharmacology and individual and group therapy, provided by a team of board-certified psychiatrists, psychologists, activity therapists and social workers.

Clinical Component 

Primary responsibilities of this position - Cover patients in the Stephens Inpatient Unit #2 – Adult Unit.

  • 20 patients per day with great support staff including psychiatry residents assisting with patient rounds.
  • Schedule – 5-day work week with 8-hour days, 6 hours are required. Most physicians are done by 2:00pm. At this point you have the option to leave for the day or continue treating patients in the clinic (outpatient treatment), addiction medicine (Suboxon waiver required) or perform TMS.
  • Currently call is 1:9 but will possibly improve to 1:18 – 1 in 9 weekdays and 1 in 9 weekends. Weekdays are considered Monday through Thursday 5p to 8a. Weekends are 5p Friday to Monday morning 8a. This is a fairly light call. The call is for admissions and discharges.

After you, and your spouse or significant other, have reviewed the information on the practice and community, and if you are interested in being considered for the opportunity, kindly forward us a copy of your CV. If you have any past or currently pending malpractice cases, kindly provide us with documentation as to the outcome or current status of the case.

We will need to spend some time on the phone with you, and your spouse, to gain a clear understanding of your current situation. We will document that information in the form of a cover letter and forward that on to Vicky Mieseler, Chief Administration Officer – Ozark Center, and she will contact you to schedule a phone call with the providers and other administration.

The initial call typically takes place during the weekday at your convenience. Should the phone call go well, we will arrange a date for you to interview on-site. Your spouse, or significant other, and family, are invited to attend the interview and evaluate the community. You will meet with the physicians in your department during the better part of the day to get a feel for their personalities and how you will fit into the group.
