There has not been an OBGYN in the immediate community since 2021. Our provider left due to his wife having a stroke and he could no longer balance personal and professional – completely amicable.
The current team consists of 4 midwife providers working a total of 3.0 FTE. Kim and Megan are the two full-time midwives who handle around 50% of deliveries (700 annually) and manage their own patient panels with significant autonomy.
There is 1 FPOB who has lived in Holmes County for over 20 years. He is the sole provider outside of locums who can perform cesarean sections.
A partially retired OBGYN acts as the medical director, working 50-60 days per year providing coverage and leadership. Both the FPOB and medical director support recruiting a new OB/GYN.
To fill gaps, the Hospital utilizes locum tenens OB/GYNs through an established contract relationship. The hospital would transition out the locums as a permanent provider ramps up to ensure there is no shortage of demand for the incoming provider to practice at their comfortability level.
The current team operates collaboratively. As the new OB/GYN, you'll be joining a tight-knit group of experienced professionals dedicated to delivering quality patient care. The diverse backgrounds of the midwives, FPOB, medical director and locums create a supportive environment for you to integrate your skills and expertise.
