Your clinical work will focus on primary hip and knee replacements, with opportunities to expand into revision surgeries—an area with high demand, as many current surgeons are reluctant to take these cases. Patients in the region are increasingly requesting advanced techniques such as the anterior hip approach, and by offering this progressive option, you can quickly differentiate yourself in the market. Regardless of approach, your surgical volume will be supported by both direct referrals and a robust call system that channels unassigned patients into the group.
You will care for patients from across El Paso, southern New Mexico, and cross-border communities in Juarez, creating a truly diverse practice. This broad patient base ensures a steady flow of cases across a range of complexities, from routine arthroplasty to challenging revisions. Many patients arrive with significant pathology after long wait times, giving you the professional satisfaction of making a profound difference in mobility and quality of life.
While you will initially participate in general orthopedic call, this responsibility is structured to be manageable and instrumental in practice growth. Call is typically a few days per month, supplemented with stipends for hospital coverage. The collegial environment means complex or out-of-scope cases are shared across subspecialties, and spine, trauma, foot/ankle, and sports colleagues are available for consultation and coverage.
You will work within a system designed to optimize outcomes, from initial evaluation through surgery and post-operative rehabilitation. Dedicated physical therapy and rehab services ensure patients transition smoothly through recovery, and the hospital prioritizes evidence-based practices such as enhanced recovery protocols and efficient discharge planning.
