Clinical Component

The clinic schedule is Monday-Friday. Typically, your day will be over by 5pm.

Primary clinical responsibilities will be their location in Homewood, IL. You will also be privileged at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial and Advocate South Suburban Hospital.

A typical week will consist of approximately:

30-40 patient consults
40-50 endoscopies (clinic and hospital)
5-15 inpatients in the hospital

Each physician will participate in a 1:5 shared call.

Weekday Call – Every 5th day
Weekend Call - Every 5th weekend, starting at 5pm Friday and ending at 8am the following Monday.

*According to Dr. Matthew Horowitz, during the week, each GI will follow their own patients in the hospital and during the weekend, the physician on call will round on the all the inpatients for SSGI.
