Understanding the Role
United Heart Institute is recruiting a cardiac electrophysiologist to establish the first dedicated EP service based in Upland, California. You would join an 11-provider cardiology group that currently refers its outpatient EP consults to physicians outside the community.
The position begins with an income guarantee through San Antonio Regional Hospital and leads to partnership in a physician-owned practice. Your work is based at one hospital and one clinic, both in Upland.

Why This Position Exists
The electrophysiologists who serve the Upland area are based in neighboring cities. Local patients often wait for EP care or travel for it. A locally based EP would fill that gap.
- The group generates 7 to 12 EP consults every day, all currently referred out
- Referral volume from the group alone is expected to support more than one EP
- The group already covers general cardiology, heart failure, structural heart, interventional cardiology, and advanced cardiac imaging (CT and MRI)
- EP is the only cardiology subspecialty the group does not yet offer
- The group accepts about 25 insurance plans, including HMO plans, and holds an exclusive cardiology contract with Optum, the largest HMO in the region
Service Area
San Antonio Regional Hospital serves the western Inland Empire, including Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, and Ontario. The hospital also operates satellite locations in Eastvale, Fontana, Ontario, and Rancho Cucamonga.
